Environmental report
Every year an environmental report is produced about Johnsen
Offset A/S og Johnsen Papirindustri A/S. Johnsen is certified to
EMAS II, which means an environmental report about conditions in
the company has to be produced every year. This report is not only
an account of what has happened during the year but a documentation
of the input and commitment provided, which is verified by an
independent organisation. In this sector Johnsen works together
with Det Norske Veritas in Denmark.
Extensive monitoring
Monitoring of Det Norske Veritas in Denmark is very thorough. The
environment report is scrutinised in great detail and a consultant
makes sure all the conditions apply on site. During inspection
visits individual, randomly selected employees are interviewed
about their knowledge of routine environmental procedures in their
operations. At the last inspection consultant Ole Lundis came to
see Johnsen. Ole Lundis' findings were that environmental awareness
is well established at the company. Environmental awareness
functions as a natural part of their everyday working routine. The
company is capable of achieving remarkable results in the
environmental sector. In general terms, what we have here is a
company that functions very well, as Ole Lundis confirms in his
final report.
Acknowledgment in the test report
In the final report other positive circumstances are also
mentioned. Among other things, Ole Lundis writes that a Lean
concept serves as an essential basis for the achievement of ongoing
improvements. The company's expansion is also mentioned as a
positive and visible result. In summary we can say that business
and environmental goals are closely interconnected at
Johnsen.
Environmental report
More than 10 years have now passed since we first tackled our
environmental project, and as a result we have received EMAS
recognition.
